Hawaiian Workcation

Tom and I narrowly escaped the worst Spring in Seattle in decades. We were lucky enough to spend April, May and June on Maui in Haiku. Let's just say that we made the most of it. Tom did have to work every day so our day began each morning at 5:00 a.m. Around 5:30 a.m. the sun would rise in the east and because it never gets very cold in Hawaii, we were able to sit on our porch and watch the sun rise above the ocean in nothing more than pjs with mug of tea in hand. Then the routine consisted of breakfast, lunch made and a ride along the ocean to drop Tom off at 6:15 a.m. for the ride to Up Country and Keokea for his day of work on the OW Ranch. We loved that morning ride together. The days' work was hard but the crew was great and the views endless. At night I'd pick him up toting a cooler with pre-dinner snacks and a beer and we'd head to Ho'okipa where he'd surf with the locals (and the giant turtles, literally) before going home for dinner as we ate to the sun setting over the ocean to the west. Yes, we actually had expansive ocean views from our Ohana east to west. Here are just a view favorite photos, for more visit www.themeanderingfork.blogspot.com.

Winter Break

The kids had their winter break this week and a winter week it was, with snow, sleet, cold blasts of air -- it didn't disappoint except that the snow didn't stick long enough to make a snowman. We ended our week at the flower and garden show with its promise of spring and a wonderful play area for children. The kids made spider webs out of string and coat hangers, seed planters, muscled real vegetables into wheel barrels, road a John Deere, pet rabbits and fed chickens, and various other activities. We concluded our almost 5 hours with a Disney radio performance that involved teen dancers, ala Hannah Montana, and lots of activities involving volunteers from the audience. Sylvia volunteered to learn a complicated dance routine that involved "dj moves" and cross-leg turnabouts. But she held her own and danced her heart out. LOL

Gregg and Elisa's New Years Eve 2010 Wedding

Gregg and Elisa were married New Year's Eve 2010 and a very glam wedding it was. What with the loaded Margaritas (ole!) and the presence of my favorite men, and of course all the dancing, we ushered in the new year in style.
