Hawaiian Workcation

Tom and I narrowly escaped the worst Spring in Seattle in decades. We were lucky enough to spend April, May and June on Maui in Haiku. Let's just say that we made the most of it. Tom did have to work every day so our day began each morning at 5:00 a.m. Around 5:30 a.m. the sun would rise in the east and because it never gets very cold in Hawaii, we were able to sit on our porch and watch the sun rise above the ocean in nothing more than pjs with mug of tea in hand. Then the routine consisted of breakfast, lunch made and a ride along the ocean to drop Tom off at 6:15 a.m. for the ride to Up Country and Keokea for his day of work on the OW Ranch. We loved that morning ride together. The days' work was hard but the crew was great and the views endless. At night I'd pick him up toting a cooler with pre-dinner snacks and a beer and we'd head to Ho'okipa where he'd surf with the locals (and the giant turtles, literally) before going home for dinner as we ate to the sun setting over the ocean to the west.
